A Brief Introduction to a Self Storage Facility
A self storage facility is a cost effective storage option for either domestic or commercial use. However, unlike other traditional storage methods that are available a self storage facility is perfect for storing household items, valuables, documents, filing cabinets, vehicles, furniture, tools etc and they usually cover all aspects of storage (from packing kits through to moving supplies).
These facilities provide storage space that you can rent in order to store your personal possessions and you know that they will be safe and secure. The biggest benefit of using a self storage facility is that you can choose the size of room that you want to rent and you can also choose how long you wish to rent the unit for (whether a week or a few months or a year). All the rooms within the facility are protected by close circuit TV (CCTV) systems and other security methods (some may even have security staff that are located there are night as well as staff being available during normal opening hours).
The costs for renting these units will either be paid weekly or monthly and any excess payment made by you will be refunded at the end of the agreement.
When renting a self storage room you will be provided with a lock and key for that room and you will be the only one holding such a key. However, you may if you wish nominate other people to be key holders (in case of an emergency).
You may also find that the self storage facility has other benefits that they can offer such as a free self-drive van, deposit and insurance offers, free use of their equipment, offers on packaging equipment etc.
However, before choosing a self storage company it is important that you find out whether they provide 24 hour access to the self storage facility do they have heated and non-heated storage, what the security is like, what fire precautions they have in place, what alarm system is installed and how easy is access for you to get into your room. Once you are happy with the answers that they have provided you can now go ahead and set up your room rental contract with them.
