Use this moving checklist to help organize your move!

Moving can be stressful and chaotic, but you can relive some of that by getting organized. When I moved last year, I had a checklist that I used to coordinate and organize the move. I was selling a house and buying a new house at the same time so I had not only, the actual move aspect but the finalization and closing of the houses to deal with as well but if you are only moving you can simply cross off the items pertaining to financing and closing.
If you want to be really organized, you can assign dates to the items on the checklist and put those on your calendar as a little reminder of when to get each thing done!

Moving Checklist
- Buy boxes or rent crates, packing material
- Pack knick knacks and unneeded items
- House inspection
- Gather pay stubs and other records for loan
- Arrainge for utility shut off / reconnect for phones, lights and gas
- Notify friends and busines etc.. of change of address
- Change address on checks and business cards
- Final walk-through on both houses
- Fix any items that came up in final walk through
- Get Certified Check For Closing
- Rent Uhaul Truck
- Schedule move out cleaning
- Schedule dog to kennel
You can probably add some other specific things to your moving checklist, but this is what worked for me. Some of the items have a specific time schedule - the truck had to be rented the day before and the cleaning had to be scheduled for right after we had the place empty but before the new folks moved in. It might be a good idea to buy a calendar (or print one out online) and put all the items on the calendar on the particular day they need to be completed. You might have to do some moving around then if your closing date moves.
Having a moving checklist won't magically make everything happen right but it can help to make things run a little more smoothly!
