One of the many benefits of relocating to Florida is the miles and miles of beautiful beaches. If you are lucky enough to be able to afford property on the ocean or inter coastal water way then you will truly be in paradise. until you get your insurance bill! Due to the destruction done by hurricanes, insurers are reluctant to insure beachfront properties at all so you'd better make sure you can even get insurance before you consider buying. As with any property on water you will pay dearly for it.
If you are relocating to Florida from up north, then may be some maintenance expenses that you may not have considered. Of course, you will be saving on heat and snow removal, but as Florida can get brutally hot you will be running the air conditioning almost every day. This tropical weather is also a haven for bugs and you will need to have monthly extermination done unless you want to see a lot of creepy crawlies around.
Sitting around in the tropical sun all day might be great for you, but it's not so good for your house or your car. The moist air and constant sun shine can cause problems for homeowners such as fading, mold and algae. In addition, you will need to be prepared to keep up your landscaping year round. Since your air conditioner will be running pretty much all the time, it will require more maintenance than in most areas of the US. If you have a pool, you may want to have a pool service take care of it, or you can learn to do it yourself. You’ll also want to make sure you protect the finish of your car from the sea air and sun by keeping it in a garage or under a car port.
But don't let this scare you away from relocating to Florida. It is a beautiful state where you can have perfect weather most days and beautiful beaches to visit that are a short drive away. It's a friendly state with a laid back style and beautiful scenery.
